Holy Shogunate Full Set miniatures from Bite the Bullet, 19 Trench Crusade-compatible figures in 28/32mm resin

New from Bite the Bullet: Holy Shogunate Miniatures for Trench Crusade

Trench Crusade attracts players looking for something grimmer and more thematic than a standard fantasy wargame, and the Holy Shogunate is one of its more compelling factions to put on the table. Bite the Bullet's 19-model warband, released under their Ashen Armies Trench Crusade co-brand, blends Japanese feudal aesthetics with the grinding horror of no-man's-land combat. We stock the full Holy Shogunate miniatures range at TabletopXtra, printed to order in high-detail resin and shipped from the UK.

Who Are the Holy Shogunate?

The Holy Shogunate are a distinct faction within Bite the Bullet's Ashen Armies line — a range designed specifically around Trench Crusade-compatible warbands. The name says a lot: this is a warband rooted in Japanese feudal hierarchy (Shogunate, Yeomen, a formal command structure) operating in a grimdark alternate-history setting where faith, firepower, and close combat sit alongside each other.

The unit roster reflects that mix. Line infantry come in the Yeomen, assault troops in the Shocktroopers, and a cast of named specialists brings real character to the force: a Lieutenant to lead the line, a Combat Engineer with multiple head variants, a Sniper Priest, a Trench Cleric, and Combat Medic Akane. Three Combat Dogs add a raw, aggressive edge to the warband, and two Mechanized Infantry models, including a flamethrower variant, push the faction toward heavier firepower. Where many Trench Crusade factions lean into the heretical or infernal, the Holy Shogunate feel grounded in order and religious discipline, which gives them a coherent warband identity on the table.

Inside the Holy Shogunate Full Set

The Holy Shogunate Full Set is 19 models in 28/32mm at £52.99, covering everything you need to field a working warband from the off. Every unit described above is included in a single order.

For players who prefer to build gradually, every piece is also sold separately. The squads are the Yeomen (4 models) and Shocktroopers (4 models) at £14.99 each in 28/32mm, the Combat Dogs (3) at £12.99, and the Mechanized Infantry pair at £16.99. Individual character models are £6.49 each: the Lieutenant, Sniper Priest, Combat Medic Akane, Trench Cleric, and Combat Engineer.

Scale Options and Variants

The squad models are available at 28/32mm, 35mm, and 40mm. Character pieces extend to 54mm and 75mm, making models like the Trench Cleric, Sniper Priest, and Mechanized Infantry strong candidates for display painting at a larger scale.

The Combat Engineer comes in five head configurations: mask, respirator, gas mask, and bayonet versions of the first two. The Sniper Priest and Trench Cleric both carry hat variants. These options let you differentiate models within the same unit or match a specific visual read to a Trench Crusade game build.

Painting the Holy Shogunate

A muted, weathered campaign palette is the natural starting point: khaki and earth-brown field kit, mud-caked armour panels, dark metal weapons. Where the Holy Shogunate offer something more is in the character models. The Trench Cleric and Sniper Priest lend themselves to reds, deep blacks, and ivory white, referencing Japanese lacquer and priestly robes and reading as visually distinct from the line troops around them.

The Mechanized Infantry's flamethrower is a painting project of its own: blackened barrels, orange-and-yellow heat gradients on the nozzle, scorched scatter on the base. The Combat Dogs work well with detailed fur textures and wet-mud basing. Bite the Bullet publish painting guides on their YouTube channel if you want reference for working with their sculpting style and surface detail.
