DnD gnoll miniatures from Galaad Miniatures' Gnoll Clan, unpainted 28/32mm resin hyena warriors with weapons and a shaman

DnD Gnoll Miniatures: Galaad's Gnoll Clan for Raids, Ambushes and Warbands

Gnolls are the raiders every DM reaches for when the party needs a fight that feels feral rather than tidy. If you've been hunting for DnD gnoll miniatures that look like an actual clan instead of one sculpt copied six times, Galaad Miniatures' Gnoll Clan is the range we point people to. It's nine hyena-headed warriors, all printed to order in resin here in the UK.

What's in Galaad's Gnoll Clan?

The Gnoll Clan Full Set bundles all nine models from Galaad's May 2024 release. Most of the sculpts are also sold one at a time, which helps if you only need a couple of extra bodies for an encounter. The individual options are:

  • Big Berserker A and B: two heavier brutes, the pair you'll want leading the charge
  • Whip Master: a slaver or pack-leader type who drives the others forward
  • Shaman: the clan's spellcaster, ready-made as a boss or lieutenant
  • Banner Bearer: the model that turns a group of gnolls into a warband
  • Fighter, Ranger A and Ranger B: rank-and-file melee and missile troops

The range is also split into two Small Sets, the Male Fighter Miniatures (£15.99) and the Female Fighter Miniatures (£12.99). Either one gives you a ready squad without buying the lot. Everything sits together on the Gnoll Clan collection page.

Running DnD gnoll miniatures at the table

In D&D, gnolls are Medium hyena-like humanoids, and fifth edition lore ties them to the demon lord Yeenoghu. That gives you an easy hook: a raiding party sweeping through farmland, a war camp that has to be scouted before it moves, or a shaman feeding captives to something worse. The Gnoll Clan covers each of those roles, so you aren't proxying a goblin as the spellcaster or using a coin for the standard bearer.

A few ways we'd use the set:

  • Low-level ambush: the Fighter and both Rangers make a simple road encounter, with the Rangers hanging back on higher ground.
  • War camp: add the Banner Bearer and Whip Master and suddenly the camp has a chain of command your players can try to break.
  • Boss fight: the Shaman flanked by both Big Berserkers is a satisfying end to a gnoll arc, and the berserkers soak up attention while the caster works.

Gnolls also show up in plenty of other fantasy RPGs and skirmish games, so the clan isn't locked to one system. If you're building out a wider bestiary of RPG monster miniatures, our guide to D&D monster miniatures covers dragons, demons, giants and undead to sit alongside them.

Scale, sizes and pricing

Galaad sculpts for 28/32mm, the size most D&D tables use, and that's our default print. Every model in the Gnoll Clan can also be printed at 35mm or 40mm if you want them to loom over your heroes, and the Fighter, Banner Bearer, Shaman and both Rangers go up to 54mm and 75mm for painters who want a display piece.

At 28/32mm, the single troops start at £6.99, the Big Berserkers and Whip Master are £8.49 each, and the full nine-model set is £36.99 (£39.99 at 35mm, £46.99 at 40mm). If the 28mm versus 32mm question still muddles you, our D&D miniatures size guide walks through scale and base sizes.

Painting a gnoll warband

Each model arrives unpainted in grey resin, cleaned up by hand and ready to prime. Hyena fur is forgiving to paint. A warm tan or dirty yellow basecoat, a brown wash and some dark spots or stripes dabbed on top will get a whole clan table-ready in an evening. Paint the leather and metal in a darker, muted palette and the fur does the work. If you want the clan to read as one group, pick a single spot colour (a red rag, a painted bone charm) and repeat it on every model.

The Banner Bearer is the obvious place to spend extra time, since a hand-painted clan symbol ties the whole warband together.
