DMG Minis UK: Chad Hoverter's Sci-Fi Universes at TabletopXtra
When people ask us where to find DMG Minis UK, they're usually already suspicious: they've seen the sculpts online and can't quite believe the detail-to-price ratio works. Chad Hoverter has been designing 28mm sci-fi miniatures for over a decade, and his output spans five factions with vehicles, named characters and rank-and-file troops that function as coherent forces rather than grab-bags of unrelated models. We stock the full printed range at TabletopXtra, printed to order and shipped from the UK.
Who Is Chad Hoverter?
Chad Hoverter runs DMG Minis independently, releasing new sculpts through his MyMiniFactory profile and a Patreon that keeps the design schedule active month to month. The sculpts reflect a decade of experience: proportions are clean at 28mm and 32mm, detail holds at standard print resolution, and each faction has a distinct visual identity rather than the catch-all "generic sci-fi soldier" look that plagues a lot of independent ranges.
The world-building is what separates DMG Minis from most indie sci-fi lines. Each faction has its own unit roles, specialist characters and dedicated vehicle choices, so you can build a force with an internal logic rather than mixing unrelated models to fill the slots you need. That kind of coherence is rarer than it should be at this price point.
The Five DMG Minis Factions
Silver Wardens (Shining Brotherhood)
The Silver Wardens are the flagship faction and the most complete range in the DMG Minis catalogue. Power-armoured warrior monks in a monastic aesthetic, they function as outstanding Warhammer 40,000 proxy models for Space Marine armies. The in-universe name is the Shining Brotherhood, and the product tags reflect that. Worth knowing if you're searching by faction name.
The infantry roster covers multiple roles. The Nemestrike Force Squad (£28.99) gives you five Terminator-scale heavies as a single kit, which is competitive pricing compared to resin alternatives. Heavy Exterminatus Squad (£29.99) provides a second Terminator-style option with different weapon loadouts. The Lobotomite troops, available in ranged (£15.99) and close-combat (£15.99) variants, add a grimmer edge to what is otherwise a clean militaristic aesthetic.
Characters are well covered: Grand Master Decimus Falon, Grand Magnus Carmine, Grand Magnus Mardrak and the Silver Warden Champion are all individual purchases under £15. The Custos Libri Curator (£14.99) covers the librarian-equivalent role; the Ancient Banner Bearer (£14.99) rounds out the command options.
The vehicle range is serious. The Silver Warden Grav Raider Tank (£59.99, grav or tracked variants) is a full-scale battle tank. The Accipiter Assault Craft (£39.99) and Corvus Tempest (£55.99) provide aircraft. The Ferox APC (£35.99) handles transport. The Silver Warden Dread Bot (£32.99) is a walker with three weapon configurations. These are complete sculpts, not token additions.
The centrepiece of the range is the Dread Walker Demon Slayer Knight Deluxe (£42.99), a towering Dreadnought-scale figure with detail that rewards careful painting. If you want one model to spend a weekend on, this is it.
The Intelligencia
The Intelligencia is DMG Minis' Inquisition analogue: clandestine agents, specialist assassins and shadowy administrators. The range is character-dense, with eight distinct sculpts covering every kill-specialist niche you'd need for a skirmish force or an allied detachment in a larger game.
The assassin line covers four archetypes: the Vindicatorial Assassin (both A and B variants at £12.99 each), the Calladium Assassin (£9.99 each for A and B), the Cal Axis Master Assassin (£9.99) and the Everslay Temple Assassin (£9.99). The Cabal Cult Assassin (£9.99) is the most recent addition and sits slightly outside the standard Intelligencia visual register, leaning more heretical than official, which makes it a flexible pick across faction rosters. Command options are Inquisitor Cortez (£14.99) and the Inquisition Mistress (£15.99). House Navigator (£12.99) covers a support role.
For anyone building 28mm sci-fi miniatures for a skirmish game that benefits from individual character variety, the Intelligencia has the best model-to-role coverage of any DMG Minis faction.
Sons of Spartania
Where the Silver Wardens read as monastic-military, the Sons of Spartania have a Greco-Roman inflection. Crests, shields and ceremonial detail sit alongside the standard power-armour silhouette, and the faction's colour palette tends to run warmer. It's a distinct enough look that the two factions read as separate forces immediately. Useful if you want opposing armies that don't need different bases to tell apart.
The roster covers plasma squads, Stratos Marines, ultra cavalry, Battle Priest and Battle Mage character options, and a Mounted Captain (£18.99) for a centrepiece cavalry model. The Nekros Engine (£36.99) is the faction's heavy walker. The Dexmieni Grav Tank (£52.99) is a clean sculpt (low profile, anti-gravity chassis) and one of the better vehicle photographs in the range once painted.
Trench Fiends
The Trench Fiends bring DMG Minis' universe into contact with Trench Crusade territory: heretical infantry with demonic design elements, built for the alternate-WWI skirmish game. All three models are tagged for Trench Crusade and Wargaming Proxy use.
The Infernal Knights (from £6.49 for a set of two) are the entry point and available in 28mm through 40mm base sizes. The Trench Heretic Superior (£6.99) is a command piece; the Heretical Missile Witch (£6.99) provides a ranged specialist. If you're assembling a Trench Crusade warband and want models that read differently from the standard printed offerings, these are worth a look. Our guide to where to buy Trench Crusade models covers the full faction landscape if you're still mapping the options.
1KHijos and Imperial Soldiers
Two smaller factions round out the range. The 1KHijos are an elite heavy-infantry force with a distinct visual register; the Marine Troop Transport (£32.99) is the standout piece, a light vehicle that works in any near-future sci-fi game with transport rules. The Imperial Soldiers cover standard line infantry, with the Rejuvenaught Medtech (£5.99) being the most useful crossover model, a detailed medic sculpt that fits any Imperial-flavoured sci-fi army without modification.
Three DMG Minis Models to Start With
If you're coming to the range for the first time, these three give you a realistic sense of what the sculpts look like on a table and where they fit in a broader force:
Nemestrike Force Squad | Silver Wardens (£28.99). Five Terminator-scale heavy infantry. Good value as a squad kit and the clearest introduction to the Silver Wardens' aesthetic.
Infernal Knights | Trench Fiends (from £6.49). A set of two, available across four base sizes. The most affordable entry point in the range and a clean addition to any Trench Crusade or grimdark sci-fi warband.
Dread Walker Demon Slayer Knight Deluxe | Silver Wardens (£42.99). The centrepiece of the Silver Wardens range. If you want a model to spend real painting time on, this is the one to pick.
Buy DMG Minis UK from TabletopXtra
We print every model to order on professional FDM and resin printers and ship from the UK, so you're not waiting weeks for stock to arrive from overseas. Standard scale is 28mm, with 32mm, 35mm and 40mm available on models where the original sculpt supports it. Every model comes unsupported and lightly cleaned, ready for primer and paint.
For anyone building Warhammer 40k alternative miniatures on a sensible budget, or adding specialist sci-fi infantry miniatures to an existing force, the DMG Minis range offers consistent quality across a well-designed set of factions. Chad Hoverter's earlier sculpts from 2023 still hold up against the most recent additions, which says something about how well the range has been conceived from the start.
