28mm Oni Miniatures: Artisan Guild's Oni Clan for DnD and Fantasy RPG
Oni have one of the clearest monster silhouettes in Japanese mythology. Horned, weapon-wielding, scaled well above a human fighter, they read as a specific threat before the DM has said a word. Artisan Guild's Oni Clan gives you thirteen 28mm oni miniatures spanning every tier of an encounter, from expendable grunts to a mounted clan leader. All are cast in pre-supported 28/32mm resin and printed to order here in the UK.
What the Oni Clan includes
The range was Artisan Guild's May 2023 monthly release, sculpted by Andrea Tarabella. Like all Artisan Guild sets, it's built around their ball-joint system, where heads, arms, and weapons swap freely between models across different guild releases. If you already own pieces from other Artisan Guild ranges, these models integrate directly with what you have.
The warband divides into four clear tiers. The Oni Grunts form the fighting mass, four variants giving you variety across a mob. Above them sit the Kyojin, heavier shock troops that step up in size and presence. Goraku the Ogre Magi fills the spellcaster slot. And Yoshigruzu commands the whole clan, available either on foot or mounted on a creature. Together they cover the arc of a structured enemy faction rather than just a collection of individual monsters. That structure matters when you're building towards a specific encounter rather than filling a random encounter table.
Oni Grunts: the rank and file
The set has four Grunt sculpts (A, B, C, and D), each with a different weapon load and pose. Individually they start at £6.49. If you need the mob, the Oni Grunt Miniatures Small Set (£22.99) bundles all four variants together.
In D&D fifth edition these fit naturally against the Oni NPC statblock, though they're flexible enough to stand in for large humanoid demons, corrupted spirits, or any horned antagonist your homebrew calls for. Having four different poses means players can track separate targets within a group without models becoming confusing, and the sculpt variety gives a mob the visual weight of an actual horde rather than a neat queue of identical figures.
Kyojin giants and Goraku the Ogre Magi
Kyojin A and Kyojin B are the larger oni of the warband, bigger and bulkier than the Grunts in a way that registers immediately at table scale. The Kyojin Miniatures Small Set (£19.99) gets both in a single purchase, which is the most direct route if you need heavy hitters without committing to the full warband.
Goraku the Ogre Magi (£14.99) fills the spellcaster role. The sculpt reads clearly as a magic-user and fits the D&D Ogre Mage statblock directly. He works equally well as a cult leader, sorcerer NPC, or the intelligence behind the clan's operations. After players have pushed through the Grunts, Goraku changes how they're thinking about the fight.
Yoshigruzu: the Clan Leader
The warlord of the Oni Clan comes in two versions. The Yoshigruzu Clan Leader (£12.99) is the on-foot option, detailed enough to reward careful painting and imposing enough to carry a boss encounter on its own. The Yoshigruzu on Warugo Oni Beast (£16.99) puts him on a hulking creature mount that adds scale and spectacle to the reveal. The mounted version tends to be what players remember at the end of a session, the kind of centrepiece that earns a photograph when the fight is over.
Either version suits a named antagonist the party can track across multiple encounters. The Demon Oni Tsuki Pin-Up (from £6.29) rounds out the range as a display and collector piece, available in scales from 28mm to 75mm.
Putting together your order
The Oni Clan Miniatures Full Set (£89.99) includes every model in the range: all four Grunt variants, both Kyojin, Goraku, Yoshigruzu, and Demon Oni Tsuki. That covers the full encounter arc in a single order, from opening mob to final boss.
For more targeted purchases, the Small Sets are the practical route. Oni Grunt Miniatures (£22.99) if you need mobs; Kyojin Miniatures (£19.99) for heavy hitters. Add Goraku (£14.99) and your preferred Yoshigruzu (from £12.99) as the named characters, and you have a complete faction without buying the full set upfront. Individual Grunts are also available from £6.49 if you only need specific poses.
Artisan Guild publish their full catalogue and details of the ball-joint compatibility system at artisanguildminiatures.com.
