AK Interactive 3rd GEN Acrylic RLM 78 (1942) (AK11831)
RLM 78 (1942) is the later-war Luftwaffe light blue from AK Interactive's 3rd Generation Air Series — the revised tropical underside shade that replaced the earlier RLM 78/79 tones once 1942 rolled around. It's the colour you want under the wings of a late-war Bf 109 or Fw 190 heading out over North Africa or the Mediterranean.
Best for
- Undersides of Luftwaffe aircraft flying tropical and Mediterranean theatres from 1942 onward
- Brush or airbrush application — the 3rd Generation formula is built to flow cleanly through an airbrush without clogging
- Blending and pre/post-shading work, thanks to strong pigmentation and coverage
One coat rarely tells the whole story with authentic Luftwaffe schemes — AK's 3rd Gen acrylics are formulated to build up smoothly in thin layers, so you can chase the exact tone your reference photos call for.
17ml, water-based and ready to use straight from the bottle. Pair it with the earlier RLM 78 (1941) shade if you're covering both halves of the war, or browse the rest of the AK Interactive 3rd Generation range — our guide to the AK Interactive range is a good primer if you're new to the brand.
