AK Interactive 3rd GEN Acrylic RLM 78 (1941) (AK11830)
RLM 78 is the pale sky-blue used on the undersides of Luftwaffe aircraft operating in tropical theatres, worn alongside the sandy RLM 79 and green RLM 80 on North African and Mediterranean fronts from 1941. This pot carries the original "1941" shade, standardised that year before RLM 78 was revised to a slightly lighter tone later in the war — so it's the shade to reach for on early desert-camouflage builds. This 17ml pot from AK's 3rd Generation acrylic range is colour-matched straight from the tin.
Best for
- Airbrushing full undersides on North African and Mediterranean-theatre Luftwaffe kits — thin 1:1 to 2:1 with AK's 3G thinner (or water)
- Brush painting smaller areas, conversions or terrain needing the same early-war shade
- Matching correctly against tropical RLM 79 sand and RLM 80 green upper-surface camouflage
It has the pigment-rich matt finish typical of AK's 3rd Generation range, so coverage is strong even over darker undercoats, and once cured it stands up to washes, oils and weathering without lifting.
17ml, ready to use straight from the pot. See the rest of the AK 3rd Generation Acrylics range, or read our guide to the AK Interactive range if you're new to the brand.
