Trench of Death Vol 2: Printed and Delivered — Back Our Kickstarter
The Trench of Death tile system has built a reputation as one of the better modular trench setups for grimdark tables. BlackSheepScenery designed Vol 1 and Vol 2 around a core principle: reconfigurable battlefield sections that store flat and rebuild differently each session. We've now licensed the Vol 2 system and are running a Kickstarter to print and deliver it directly.
What Is the Trench of Death System?
Trench of Death is a modular tile system designed for grimdark and WW1-era wargaming. Each tile connects to the next to form full battlefield sections — trenches, firing positions, open ground and elevated terrain. The tiles arrive unpainted. Painting is straightforward and the system is built to be stripped back and rearranged, so no two games need the same layout.
Vol 1 covered the core trench runs. Vol 2 expands the range considerably, adding ground variants, tactical terrain types and elevation pieces that weren't in the first campaign.
What's in Vol 2?
The full tile set covers a lot of ground. The core includes remastered trench tiles in wood and metal finishes, plus three mixed variants for texture variety across a table. Beyond the trench runs, Vol 2 adds dug-in sections, a battlefield surface variant, and hull-down tank tiles for armoured scenarios. There are also valley pieces for lower ground and prototype hill and mountain tiles for elevation work, supported by a height system that reduces the material needed to build out raised sections.
The variant structure means you can build a consistent single-material look across the whole table or mix styles to give the impression of terrain that's been patched and extended over time. Both approaches work.
Why It Suits Trench Crusade
Trench Crusade plays out across fortified lines and contested ground, and terrain density matters. A modular tile system gives you something a flat mat doesn't: real cover, defined angles and positions that reward tactical decision-making. You can shift the trench configuration between games, adjust the defensive depth or bring in valley sections to change how sight lines sit across the table.
We stock Diceverse's grimdark scenery range and the Trench of Death system is a natural companion for it. Diceverse covers ruined buildings, pillboxes and naval scatter. Trench of Death handles the ground-level tile work. Together they build out a table that looks like it belongs in the setting.
How the "Printed and Delivered" Campaign Works
BlackSheepScenery's system was originally designed as FDM 3D-printable files. The Vol 2 Kickstarter they ran offered the digital files for backers to print themselves. Our campaign takes a different angle: we're licensed and authorised by BlackSheepScenery to run the printing ourselves and ship the physical tiles to you.
You back at the tier that covers your table, and we handle everything through to delivery. There's no printer required, no file management and no support material to deal with. Pieces arrive ready to base and paint.
Back the Campaign
The Kickstarter is live now. The full tier breakdown, what's included at each level and the delivery timeline are all on the campaign page.

We also carry terrain and scenery in the main shop if you want pieces that ship straight away. For Trench Crusade models and warbands, the Crab Miniatures Doomed Battalions range is a good place to start.
