Darkness of the Lich Lord Full Set miniatures by Artisan Guild – DnD undead miniatures including draugr, wraiths and the Lich Lord at 28/32mm

DnD Miniatures Undead: Artisan Guild's Darkness of the Lich Lord

Artisan Guild's Darkness of the Lich Lord is one of the more complete undead releases we stock for dnd miniatures undead builds. Released in May 2022, it gives you infantry, elites, spectral troops and named characters in one thematically unified Nordic range. That breadth is what makes it practical: whether you need rank-and-file draugr for a D&D encounter or a centrepiece Lich Lord for the end of a campaign arc, this release covers the full spectrum. For undead miniatures UK hobbyists want to use straight from the box, it remains one of the most versatile options we carry.

What is the Darkness of the Lich Lord?

Artisan Guild is a solo design studio run by sculptor Andrea Tarabella. Their work follows a monthly saga structure where each release expands a connected fantasy world, with a ball-joint component system that keeps parts cross-compatible across sets. The Darkness of the Lich Lord is Norse-flavoured, which separates it from the Roman legionnaire or Egyptian mummy aesthetics that dominate most undead ranges. These are barrow-walkers and grave-risen draugr, bound in rusted armour to a lich's will.

That thematic specificity gives the range a visual identity most undead collections lack. On a table with generic skeleton units, they read immediately as something different. The ball-joint system also means components from this release swap cleanly with other Artisan Guild sets, worth knowing if you already own their other releases and want conversion options.

Which DnD Undead Miniatures Are in the Range?

The release covers unit squads and named characters, from rank-and-file infantry through to individual boss sculpts.

Unit squads

The Draugr Miniatures form the core infantry: armoured undead warriors with aggressive poses and well-defined surface detail. From £6.29 per model or £19.99 for a squad of six at 28/32mm. The Draugr w/ Helmet variant gives you the same unit with full-face helms for visual variety within a formation, same pricing. Take both squads together and you have twelve dnd miniatures undead infantry with enough variation that a rank of them won't look like copies.

The Wraith Miniatures round out the troops: four ghostly figures with dramatic flowing silhouettes. A Full Set of four is £19.99 at 28/32mm. The sculpts hold fine detail well and paint up cleanly with contrast washes or OSL glazing.

Named characters

  • Baldur — from £6.99. A draugr hero sculpt, useful as a unit champion or low-tier undead lieutenant.
  • Bodil the Wraith Wright — £6.99. A wraith-spellcaster whose design reads as a necromantic scholar. Works well as a banshee or undead mage in D&D.
  • Hulgrof — £22.99. A large draugr warlord sculpt, a natural fit for a Death Knight, Revenant, or high-CR undead champion in your campaign.
  • The Lich Lord — £18.99. The centrepiece of the entire range. Full-robed, staff-bearing, with a composed authority that reads well at any table scale.

How Does This Range Work in D&D and Wargaming?

The range maps neatly onto D&D 5e challenge ratings across a wide span. Draugr work at CR 1-2 as undead infantry. Wraiths step up at CR 5, or stat them down to CR 1 spectres for lower-tier play. Bodil fits a Banshee slot at CR 13, or use her as a homebrew undead spellcaster. Hulgrof is a Death Knight at CR 17. The Lich Lord himself is built for the Archlich encounter at the top of a campaign, and the sculpt carries the weight of that role. If your players see it on the table before you've named who they're facing, that's the reaction you want.

For wargamers, 28/32mm scale works on standard 25mm and 32mm round bases without modification. The Norse aesthetic puts these in different visual territory from Warhammer skeleton units, which matters if your faction needs to read as distinct on the table. Detail retention in Artisan Guild's resin is consistently good in our experience, and warping on these sculpts is minimal.

Looking for undead from a different culture? Our Galaad Mummies range covers Egyptian-themed undead at 28mm. For a mixed villain faction, the Artisan Guild Abyss Demons pair well alongside a lich-led undead force.

The Full Set: One Order, Complete Warband

The Darkness of the Lich Lord Full Set is £69.99 and covers both Draugr squads, the Wraith squad, and all four named characters. Hulgrof and the Lich Lord alone come to £41.98 individually, so the Full Set makes clear sense for anyone buying the range as a complete faction rather than picking individual pieces.

Individual squads and characters are available separately through our Artisan Guild collection if you'd rather build gradually. For the full lore and backstory behind the range, Artisan Guild's MyMiniFactory page has the complete saga context.
